Genetically modified mosquitoes may soon be released in Florida

If approved, the release of GM mosquitos in Key West will represent the first ever release of a GM creature in the U.S., and on a trial basis where scientists really have no idea what will happen. Like all other GMOs, it is unknown whether or not the GM mosquitos will have a detrimental effect on the environment or humans, or how killing of large amounts of mosquitos will disrupt the life cycles of natural ecosystems.

My family was supposed to attend a camping trip to the Florida Keys next month with the Cub Scouts. However, I don't want to make my family part of this genetic experiment. I wonder how many others will change their travel plans in light of this recent news. The Florida Keys just might have an unforeseen and unfortunate loss of tourism dollars directly related to their experiment.

What are your thoughts about this?

There is a camping trip coming up to the Florida Keys... with the cub scouts. I think we are going to skip this one. I don't want my family to be a part of this experiment.

Stockton Aloe featured on Cheeseslave.com

We really enjoyed the Weston A. Price Foundation's ( http://www.westonaprice.org/ ) annual meeting, which was in Dallas this year. One of the people we met there was Ann Marie, the "CheeseSlave". We were exhibiting at the event and met her as she was visiting our booth. She tells the story of her encounter better than I could... you can read about it at http://www.cheeseslave.com/q-a-november-20-2011/ . She speaks of our new Aloe Ointment when she answers question 3.
